Sean grew up in central Iowa during the 1980s, surrounded by a vibrant arts community and fields of corn. Sean developed a passion for drawing and sketching, which blossomed into an interest in art appreciation and art history. This early foundation would come full circle when, after retiring from the military in 2020, Sean returned to college to pursue a degree in the arts.

Sean enrolled at the Maine College of Art (now the Maine College of Art & Design) in the fall of 2020 as a non-traditional student. Originally majoring in sculpture, chronic injuries prompted him to switch his major to another area of interest—painting—while being surrounded and supported by the amazing MECA&D community. Sean is expected to graduate in May 2025.

Sean lives in Portland, Maine, with his spouse Kelle, their children Grace and Ryan, and their cats Cosmic, Ripley, and Penny.
